For Immediate Release

TOP GLOVE’S 25th ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING (AGM) ON 10 JANUARY 2024

All resolutions carried; BOD, Senior Management and Advisors renew pledges in support of the UNGP BHR and Ikrar Bebas Rasuah

Shah Alam, Wednesday, 10 January 2024 Top Glove Corporation Bhd today held its 25th Annual General Meeting (AGM), which was broadcast from its corporate headquarters, Top Glove Tower, in Setia Alam. All resolutions proposed during the AGM, which was held virtually, were carried.

Following the conclusion of the Group’s 25th AGM, the full Board of Directors including Top Glove Executive Chairman Tan Sri Dr. Lim Wee Chai and the Chairman of Board Sustainability Committee, Ms. Sharmila Sekarajasekaran, Senior Management as well as Advisors renewed their pledges in support of the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGP BHR) as well as the Ikrar Bebas Rasuah or Corruption Free Pledge. The ceremony commenced with a brief address by Top Glove Managing Director, Mr. Lim Cheong Guan and was witnessed by Top Glove staff.

The UNGP, endorsed by the UN Human Rights Council in June 2011, is a set of 31 principles for States and companies to prevent, address and remedy human rights abuses committed in business operations.  The renewal of the UNGP BHR pledge reinforces the Group’s steadfast commitment to upholding and demonstrating best practices in the area of business and human rights, which includes to protect human rights; to have and exercise corporate responsibility; and to provide greater access to effective remedies for victims of business related human rights abuses. The Group had in December 2021, pledged its support of the UNGP BHR at a ceremony that garnered the full participation of the Group’s Board of Directors, advisors and senior management team in person and virtually, in conjunction with Human Rights Day, which fell on Friday, 10 December 2021.

Meanwhile, the Ikrar Bebas Rasuah (IBR) or Corruption Free Pledge is an initiative by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and represents an oath voluntarily taken by an organisation’s Board, leadership and members in an individual capacity, to hold each of them accountable and responsible for carrying out their duties and to hinder them from engaging in any corruption misconduct throughout their tenure. Underscoring the importance it places on remaining bribery and corruption-free, Top Glove first took the IBR in September 2018 at a ceremony witnessed by an MACC Officer, reaffirming the company’s commitment to continue doing its part to fight corruption and promote integrity within the company as well as to its business associates; and again in 2020.
