TOP GLOVE NAMED CSR COMPANY OF THE YEAR (MANUFACTURING OF GLOVES) AT THE CSR AWARDS 2019

Kuala Lumpur, Thursday, 11 July 2019 Top Glove Corporation Bhd (Top Glove) was recognised as CSR Malaysia Company of the Year (Manufacturing of Gloves) at the CSR Malaysia Awards 2019 ceremony, held in a hotel in the city centre today.

The award was presented by YB Puan Hannah Yeoh, Deputy Minister of Women, Family and Community Development to Tan Sri Dr Lim Wee Chai, the Executive Chairman of Top Glove, who received it on behalf of the company.

Top Glove was bestowed the award in acknowledgement of its multi-pronged CSR initiatives, which included flood mitigation and road resurfacing projects, a unique staff health programme in addition to various philanthropic efforts in support of education and community. This win follows Top Glove’s maiden application for the award, the judging criteria for which includes sincerity and the effectiveness of each initiative, creative implementation and transparency in reporting.

Tan Sri Dr Lim remarked, “We are very happy and honoured to receive this award. We consider it a privilege to be able to do business in society and ensure we do so in a way that positively impacts the community”. “Underscoring the importance of CSR at Top Glove, Top Glove Foundation was established with a view to plan and execute our initiatives in this very importance space”, Tan Sri Dr Lim continued.

Top Glove also had the opportunity to do a mock cheque presentation to one of its beneficiaries, Yayasan Pendidikan Tzu Chi Malaysia, which received a donation of RM1.2 million towards the construction of an international school aimed at providing holistic education. 

The CSR Awards is a Corporate Social Responsibility event organised by CSR Malaysia Publications with the support of Ministry of Women, Family & Community Development Malaysia to honour outstanding corporations in Malaysia that have excelled in the role of change agents in the socio-economic transformation of Malaysia.
