TOP GLOVE ENGINEERS MISTAKENLY REPLACED SYABAS WATER METER IN 2019

KUALA LUMPUR (May 30): Top Glove Corp Bhd has said that its engineers mistakenly replaced the Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (SYABAS) water meter with the company's digitalised water meter on April 11, 2019.

However, the company acted immediately upon being alerted on the matter by reinstalling the SYABAS water meter on May 28, 2019, it said in a statement on Monday.

"The company had also fully paid the sum of about RM56,000, of which RM52,000 was for an estimated 47 days' water usage, based on Air Selangor's calculations," it said in reply to a statement issued by the National Water Services Commission on the matter earlier on Monday.

It added that several Top Glove factories had successfully installed digitalised water meters to monitor water usage in real time, with the intention of digitalising and automating the recording system.

"The company wishes to clarify that its actions were part of its digitalisation initiatives and that the matter has been resolved," it said.
