DETERMINED to provide job opportunities to locals, glove maker Top Glove Corporation Bhd (Top Glove) said that it has planned many initiatives in its trajectory to embrace the post-pandemic future.
“Over the past three years, we have increases automation in our operations to increase efficiency in terms of production, quality and cost, minimising human error and reducing dependency on manual labour.
“Our initiatives in this area have intensified with the ongoing pandemic and international borders still closed. Plus, the company is also filling employment gaps from the Malaysian talent pool,” it said, in a statement.
Last week, Top Glove announced that it will hire 9,000 locals to fill vacancies across various departments, from executives to non-executives, to meet its current upward business trajectory in the medical gloves industry.
The company will be holding a virtual Career Fair every third Saturday of the month, throughout this year for that purpose, with the first one on Jan 23. The next one will be on Feb 20.
The glove maker’s endevour received praises from Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Yaakob, adding the company should also emphasise on the safety and wellbeing of the employees.
On the employment drive, Top Glove said that it has hied 6,599 staffers last year alone, including 1,654 interns.
It added that with the global demand of gloves expected to grow between 15% and 25% annually over the next two to three years, on the back of higher usage and increased healthcare awareness, Top Glove will be expanding as well to meet the increased demand. – Jan 26, 2021
